Shovel ready
A term used in business to describe a project or initiative that is ready to begin construction or implementation immediately. It refers to a project that has gone through all the necessary planning and permitting processes and has secured the funding and resources required to start work. The term originated from construction projects where a shovel is needed to break ground and begin work. Shovel ready projects are attractive to investors, government agencies, and other stakeholders as they represent a low-risk, high-potential opportunity for growth and development.
In business coaching, “shovel ready” refers to projects that are ready to be implemented immediately. For example, a company may have a “shovel ready” marketing campaign that is fully planned, designed, and ready to be launched as soon as the resources become available. The business coach may advise the company to focus on “shovel ready” projects to maximize their efficiency and productivity, as opposed to spending valuable time and resources on projects that are not yet fully developed or planned.
